"Why was I so easy to be tossed aside?
Men, and women, feel this way when they're gf or bf decides its time to move on. Suppose your significant other sat you down to say "hey, its not working out." Now imagine you had no idea that this was coming. Sure you had your differences, but you're still in love...or at least you though so. How would you cope? What would you do?

Maybe they did try to address the issue but you just didn't understand how important it was for them. Sometimes we don't hear others until it's too late. There are no rules, humans are not perfect, that's why good communication is extremely important.
