A friend of mine wants to know: "How can I ask my boyfriend for a break in our relationship, without it sounding like a break-up?"
She doesn't want to break-up, just needs some space.

If she just wants some space, them she should just plan a trip with a girlfriend and not ask him anything. That should take care of the space issue without having to have the conversation.

be calm yet confident. tell him that you don't want to see other people, you just need some space of your own. he might get concerned, but that's ok. put him on edge just a bit so he realizes how great you are and what a great thing he has with you. eventually, when the time is right, the two of you will be back together.
